Solar Roof Tile Benefits

Are you wondering about installing solar power to your building but you absolutely hate the look and bulkiness of photo-voltaic panels otherwise known as Solar Panels, than solar roof shingles might be just what your looking for.

Solar panel roof tiles are tiles that function in he same way as solar panels.

Meaning they utilize the same technology as solar panels to create energy by using the suns natural photons to create DC which is then turned into  into AC utilize within your building.

The Solar roof tiles come in several different colors, shapes, and dimensions, and are designed to look just like traditional roof shingles, making them easy to blend in. Because of this they are a much more subtle and aesthetically pleasing package, plus they offer the same benefits of the heavier photo-voltaic panels such as immensely lowererd energy bills, and non negative affects on the environment.

Win, win right?

When solar panel roof tiles first came out on the market they were quite expensive and traditional solar panel’s were ultimately a better choice economically.

However the creation of new technologies like thin film (CIGS) and methods of manufacturing have lowered the cost of solar shingles considerably, while making them more efficient at producing energy.

Installation time has also been greatly reduced by this new technology as well. Add to that the fact that you do not need to hire a solar installation crew to install the solar panel roof tiles, as the solar panel roof shingles are similarly attached to the roof as traditional roof shingles.

solar shingles are very durable and are able to withstand large amounts of pressure from harsh weather and climates.

Another benefit of installing solar shingles is the fact that you are able to sell excess energy to your energy company, increasing your savings even more.

So as you can see there are many benefits to installing photo-voltaic roof tiles to your house, especially if you are already planning on re-shingling your roof.

China's Large Push For Renewable Energies In The Wake Of Japan's Recent Nuclear Disaster

According to an article posted by http://venturebeat.com China is now pushing renewable energies even more then before with an emphasis on solar power in the wake of Japan's disastrous nuclear debacle. The article states that "the new plan involves reducing the power target for nuclear power and increasing the amount of power produced by renewable energy sources like solar and wind power".

As we come into the new age of human technological advances, China is doing everything it can to rise to the top and has proved itself to be quite formidable. So what is the united states doing to compete with the new global powerhouse? Bickering among itself about issues that are unimportant to the common man, rewarding lobbyists and large multinational companies while the rest of us suffer its ill effects, and definitely not enough progress in alternative energies, come on now people this is getting ridiculous, how are we to compete if we keep on falling behind countries in this obviously important manufacturing and job growing sector? The cost of solar power will continue to diminish the more effort we put into it.

That Is A Lot Of Solar Power!

Alright California!!!! This just in, California has just approved 2,800 MW or 3 GW of solar power projects.

That's a whole lot of solar, and is continuing with a recent trend in the interest and production of solar power projects throughout the world. This one is quite large scale however.

The main reason for this huge approval are due to a deadline of the recovery act funds, which is part of the stimulus and to be able to qualify for it the projects must be under construction by the end of the year. The Recovery Act will allow all solar installations to receive a 30% tax credit. This reduces the solar power costs dramatically.

The Age of Solar

According to businessreviewusa.com,

Solar energy is a major economic driver for the United States, creating green jobs and vigorous revenue growth for participating companies. Despite a downturn in the U.S. economy, the American solar industry posted spectacular growth numbers in solar deployment during 2009. Photovoltaic (PV) installations increased 40 percent from 2008 to 2009. ASES predicts a 50 to 100 percent increase in solar deployment in 2010.

Yeah duh! That's what I've been saying the whole time all these so called "experts" have been calling solar a non-viable source of energy. Face it, alternative sources of energy are the way of the future it's as simple as that. They create jobs, save us money, and are environmentally conscious. It's a win win situation. In life we don't get many of those. The article goes on to say:

“Based on early predictors, we estimate a grid-connected PV growth of 50 to 100 percent in 2010,” said Collins. “However the continued growth of the U.S. solar industry is directly tied to Congress passing supportive RE & EE government policies. Every day when the sun comes up, people know that the sun is a sustainable solution to our energy situation. American scientists started the solar energy industry. It’s time for U.S. businesses and the American people to make our voices known to move solar to a mainstream energy solution in the U.S.”

I %100 agree with this sentiment. It's time we get off our asses and make it known that fossil fuels and the evil corporations that push them are outdated and dangerous. Solar roof tiles are an incredible resource for homeowners and business owners alike to participate in the age of solar.

Anyways this great article has a lot of figures about solar I would suggest checking out. You can read the whole article at:

Comparing Green Cars / Hybrid Cars

Found a great post today, and while it's not on the topic of solar roof tiles, I thought it might be interesting for you to look at, especially if your in the market for a new car and are wondering about which are the most green.

The article goes over the three most popular green cars at the moment and gives you details on all three of them. The green cars are:

1. Honda Insight

2. Civic Hybrid

3. Toyota Prius

So go onto http://blog.biggreenpurse.com/biggreenpurse/2009/06/comparing-hybrid-cars-the-honda-civic-came-out-on-top-for-my-dad.html and take a look.

Trying to lower your solar power cost? Do you like DIY projects? Consider yourself handy? Maybe your looking for a fun project to include the kids on? Well how about making some homemade solar panels.

The problem with solar energy is that it's expensive, but it really doesn't have to be. Making your own solar panels drastically lowers your solar power cost, plus you'll be doing something good for the earth while saving tons of money. So, right now at this very second what are you saying to yourself? I bet it's something along the lines of "well that's easier said then done", or "I would love to do that but I don't have the knowledge or the time to". To be perfectly honest with you, making solar panels sounds really difficult and time consuming, however it's the exact opposite. Because the principles in energy generation are the same as any power generation it's actually quite simple.

Fuel is the difficult part in energy generation. The fuel is what emits pollution, and is also very costly and dangerous to deal with. Well lucky for us solar energy doesn't need fuel, so this then lowers your solar energy cost and takes the difficult part out of the equation. All you need is a frame, silicon, negative and positive elements, a glass plate, and a couple of other things and there you go, easy and cheap solar panels. There are tons of DIY solar panel kits on the Internet, a lot of them are pure crap. If you would like to check out one that works brilliantly click here.
